Judy Aiello is a mixed-media artist with a focus on sculpture and drawing. Her work is inspired by themes of the individual and the collective, and explores qualities of endurance, struggle and perseverance. Her sculpture expands upon processes of carving wood, and finds inspiration in the examination of natural forms. Incorporating aspects of personal ritual, her work echoes the existence of tribal societies within an industrialized world.
She has her Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts, and completed her undergraduate work at Rutgers University. She is a resident of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and was also a founding member of a Williamsburg artists’ collective. She exhibits her work at numerous alternative venues, and is a member of the artist network, nyc.
She currently teaches studio art and design at the Art Institute of New York City.
